The Utah men’s tennis team will return to action on Sunday, Feb. 5 at the George S. Eccles Tennis Center in another double-header. This time around the team will face the Cal Poly Mustangs and the Eastern Washington Eagles.

IN THE RANKS
Utah currently holds a 2-2 match record for the spring season following a successful season opener and a competitive pair of matches at the ITA Kickoff Weekend in Fort Worth, Texas. The Utah duo consisting of Berk Bugarikj and Patrik Trhac are the No.5-ranked doubles team in the nation, with Geronimo Espin Busleiman remaining the No.29-ranked singles player. Updated rankings will be released on Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2023.
 
SCOUTING THE COMPETITION
The Cal Poly Mustangs currently have a 0-2 record after competing in matches against University of Michigan as well as Arkansas with respective scores of 0-4, and 1-4. The teams have faced each other twice and each team has one win against the other. The last matchup against the Mustangs was in March of 2019, playing at the Mustangs’ home and dropping the match 5-2.
The Eastern Washington Eagles have a match record of 1-2. The team dropped matches against Gonzaga and Montana, 0-7 in both cases. Their first win of the season was against Whitman College with a 7-0 finish. The Utes have not faced the Eagles since 2009, playing a home match resulting in a 6-1 win for the Utah squad.
