Utah Falls to Tulane in Final Match at Ed Collins Classic

San Diego, Calif. – The Utah men wrapped up the weekend of competition at the Ed Collins Classic Tournament in San Diego after battling in a 4-0 loss against Tulane.

During doubles play the Utah men battled but were unable to secure the point. Court three fell to Tulane to start off the competition. Soon after, court one also fell granting Tulane the doubles point.

On court two, Geronimo Espin Busleiman and Bruno Krenn were holding a close 4-5 match, but it remained unfinished.  

As the players moved to singles competitions, the Utes looked to secure the necessary courts to secure a victory. Despite their efforts, Tulane secured the second match point on court two, bringing the score to 2-0.

The third point came for the Green Wave as court five fell, leaving the score at 3-0. As Utah kept battling, the match was clinched on court four.

On court one Espin Busleiman had dropped the first set 4-6 and was up 4-3 in the second, but the match was unfinished. Similarly on court three, Jayson Blando was 2-6 in the first set and was in a close 4-5 in the second before the clinching point. On court six, Gianluca Citadini battled in a 5-7 first set and was 2-4 in the second, but his match was also unfinished.

UP NEXT

The squad will head to Las Vegas for a match against the UNLV Rebels on Saturday, March 23. The team will return to the George S. Eccles Tennis Center on Friday, March 29 and Sunday, March 31 to face Washington and Oregon in the kickoff for Pac-12 play.
