AUSTIN, Texas – The Utah men wrapped up the first match of the ITA Kickoff Weekend this afternoon against Oklahoma State. The Utes dropped the match 4-0 and will play the second match of the weekend on Sunday, Jan. 28 at 12 pm MT at the Texas Tennis Center against University of Texas San Antonio.
The match began with doubles play where Jayson and Micahel Blando fell 6-4 on court No. 2 and Dylan Applegate and Geremia Rossi fell 6-3 on court three. On court one, Geronimo Espin Busleiman and Bruno Krenn led 5-3, but their match remained unfinished.
The Utes looked to gain the victory during singles play, but unfortunately fell short. On court four, Applegate fell 6-2, 6-0. Utah also dropped the match on court two, with Krenn falling to No. 48 Alex Garcia 6-1, 6-2. The match was clinched on court three as Oklahoma State took the upper hand over Jayson Blando with 6-1, 6-3 scores.
On court one, Espin Busleiman dropped the first set 6-1 and was at a close 3-4 in the second set of his unfinished match. On court five, Gianluca Citadini also dropped the first set 6-2 and was in a tight 4-5 position in the second set when the match was clinched, leaving his own unfinished. On court six Geremia Rossi was also left with an unfinished match.

The team will play the second match of the ITA Kickoff Weekend on Sunday, Jan. 28 against UTSA. Doubles play is set to begin at 12 pm MT. Following Sunday’s match the team will travel to Denver, Colo. for a match on Friday, Feb. 2.
