Utah falls 4-0 to No. 20 Arizona State

TEMPE, Ariz.  – The Utah men’s tennis team competed in one of their final two matches of the season and fell 4-0 to No. 20 Arizona State Friday evening. 

Arizona State ended up claiming the doubles point by picking up wins on the No. 3 court and the No. 1 court. Mike Blando and Jayson Blando were up 4-3 in their set before it went unfinished.

In singles, court No. 3 was the first to finish with the Sun Devils capturing the win. ASU then picked up a win at the No. 6 spot giving them a 3-0 edge in the match. 

Arizona State picked up the clinch point at the No. 4 spot. 

In the No. 1 spot, Geronimo Espin Busleiman took his first set into a tiebreak but lost 7-6.  He never started a second set before the match was clinched and went unfinished. 

Gianluca Citadini dropped his first set 6-3 but was tied 3-3 in the second set before it went unfinished. 

UP NEXT

Utah will take on No. 8 Arizona in the final road match of the season on April 14 before returning home for the final matches April 19-21 against USC and UCLA.
