Utah falls 4-0 to No. 14 San Diego

SAN DIEGO, Calif.  – The Utah men’s tennis team took on No. 14 San Diego and fell 4-0 Friday afternoon. 

Utah had a slow start dropping the doubles point to the Toreros. San Diego picked up a win in the No. 3 spot to start things off. Geronimo Espin Busleiman and Bruno Krenn forced their match into extra games but fell 7-5 on the No. 1 court. Jayson and Michael Blando battled on court No. 2 but were tied 5-5 before it went unfinished. 

In singles, the Toreros picked up a win at the No. 4 spot to take a 2-0 advantage in the overall match.  San Diego was then able to clinch the match by picking up wins in the No. 5 and No. 6 spots. 

Jayson Blando took his first set into extra games but fell 7-5. He was up 3-1 in the second set before it went unfinished. 

Dylan Applegate took his first set into a tiebreak but fell 7-6(8-6) he was down in the second before it went unfinished. 

UP NEXT

Utah will next take on Texas Tech Saturday March 15 at 10 a.m. (MT) in the second match of the Ed Collins Classic.
