DENVER – The Utah men’s tennis team took on Denver Friday evening and fell 4-0.
Denver got the early jump on Utah by claiming the doubles point. Utah’s Jayson and Michael Blando finished with a 6-1 loss in doubles. Geronimo Espin Busleiman and Bruno Krenn battled in a 6-4 loss in the No. 1 spot to give the Pioneers the doubles point.
Dylan Applegate and Geremia Rossi were up 5-4 in the No. 3 spot when the match went unfinished.
In singles action, Applegate was the first to finish and fell to Marvin Schaber 6-1, 6-1 in the No. 3 spot. Bruno Krenn was next to finish in the No. 1 spot and fell 6-4, 6-0 to Nicolas Cuesta.
Denver was up 3-0 in the overall match when the Pioneers were able to clinch in the No .2 spot where Jayson Blando fell 6-2, 6-2 to Daniel Snacho Arbizu.
Gianluca Citadini dropped his first set 6-3 to Rikuto Yamaguchi in the No. 4 spot. Citadini won 7-5 in the second set but the third set went unfinished. In the No. 5 spot, Michael Blando’s match went unfinished after dropping the first set 7-5 and was up in the second set 3-2. Geremia Rossi also went unfinished in the No. 6 spot after winning the first set 6-4 and tied in the second set 2-2.
UP NEXT
Utah will take on the UTSA Roadrunners Saturday, Feb. 2 at 2:00 p.m. before heading to Albuquerque, N.M. to take on Louisiana and New Mexico.
