Utah drops 4-0 loss to UCLA

The University of Utah women’s tennis team took on the UCLA Bruins in Los Angeles on Saturday afternoon. The Utes were defeated, 4-0. 

Utah started the match off dropping the doubles point. Kaila Barksdale and Marcela Lopez lost to Bruin team Fangran Tian and Anne-Christine Lutkemeyer on court three, 6-4. Katya Townsend and Samantha Horwood were also unable to win on court two against Ava Catanzarite and Sasha Vagramov, 6-3, giving UCLA the doubles point. Anastasia Goncharova and Madison Tattini’s match against 6th ranked Kimmi Hance and  Elise Wagle was left unfinished. 

Heading into singles, Horwood was defeated by Lutkemeyer, 6-1, 6-1. Marcela Lopez fell to Vagamarov, 6-4, 6-0. Tattini was unable to come out on top against 23rd ranked Tain, 6-2, 6-3, giving the Bruins the match. All other games were left unfinished.

Utah Women’s tennis is coming back to Salt Lake City for their last set of home matches against the Washington Huskies on Friday, April 7th at 1:30 p.m. and the Washington State Cougars the following Sunday at 10:30 a.m.
