USC’s Emma Charney Reaches Singles Semifinals at ITA National Fall Championships

LOS ANGELES – USC women’s tennis wrapped up fall action over the weekend as Emma Charney fell in the ITA National Fall Championships singles semifinal in San Diego. The same day, the Trojans wrapped up competition at the Thunderbird Invite in Tempe, Ariz. 
 
Charney, who has had a monumental fall, reached the singles semifinals after winning three straight matches in the main draw. The sophomore lost in the singles semifinals to No. 4 seed Ayana Akli of South Carolina. 
 
In doubles, USC’s duo of Grace Piper and Parker Fry went on a deep run to reach the quarterfinals. Trojan fifth-year Eryn Cayetano and Charney teamed up in doubles but fell in the first round of the main draw. They’d go on to reach the consolation quarterfinals.  
 
At the Thunderbird Invite, senior Naomi Cheong led the Women of Troy going 3-0 in singles over the weekend. In doubles, Trojans Isabelle Lee and McKenna Koenig teamed up to finish the weekend 2-0. 
 
The Women of Troy now turn their attention to dual action, which is set to begin in just under two months.
