LOS ANGELES – USC women’s tennis swept Utah on Friday, March 31, cruising to a 4-0 victory at Marks Stadium as they kicked of a three-match weekend.
USC started the match off strong, securing the doubles point with a 6-2 win on court one by No. 33 Snow Han/Naomi Cheong, followed by a win on court two by No. 22 Eryn Cayetano and Maddy Sieg. On court three, Emma Charney and Sloane Morra were locked in a close 4-5 match when play paused.
The Trojans carried their momentum straight into singles play. No. 5 Maddy Sieg came out swinging, defeating Madison Tattini 6-1, 6-0 on center court to increase the Trojans lead to 2-0. No. 83 Snow Han continued the Trojans hot streak on court two, defeating Katya Townsend 6-4, 6-3 to score USC’s third point in the dual. No. 35 Eryn Cayetano clinched the match for the Trojans, defeating Kaila Barksdale 7-6 (2), 6-3 on court three. USC led on the remaining three courts though play was suspended.
With the win over Utah, USC improves to 11-6 overall and 3-2 in Pac-12 play. Now, the Trojans are turning their focus to tomorrow’s double header against Colorado and Pomona-Pitzer. The first match against Colorado will start at 12:00 p.m. at Marks Stadium.
