CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — The UNC women’s tennis team (24-0, 10-0 ACC), picked up its second victory in as many days after it defeated the No. 11 Miami Hurricanes 5-2 at Cone-Kenfield Indoor tennis courts on Saturday afternoon.
Doubles play began with the No. 13 ranked duo of Reese Brantmeier and Elizabeth Scotty winning 6-3 at No. 1 doubles. At No. 3 doubles, Abbey Forbes and Reilly Tran clinched the doubles point for North Carolina after the pair won 6-3.
Fiona Crawley, the top-ranked singles player in the country, won 6-1, 6-0 at No. 2 singles to give UNC a 2-0 advantage. No. 14 Carson Tanguilig added to the Tar Heel lead when she defeated No. 116 Isabella Pfenning (UM) 6-2, 6-3 at No. 3 singles. At No. 5 singles, No. 80 Elizabeth Scotty clinched the win over the Hurricanes after she won 6-2, 6-1.
No. 25 Anika Yarlagadda gave UNC its fifth-straight point after posting a 6-3, 6-0 win at No. 4 singles.
North Carolina has now won its last 24 matches, tied for the third longest winning streak in program history. The win over Miami also extended the Tar Heels home winning streak to 73 consecutive matches.
