USC Tennis Sweeps Buffs, 4-0


LOS ANGELES – The Colorado Buffaloes Tennis team fell to No. 35 USC here on Saturday afternoon at Marks Stadium.

The Buffs fall to 9-8 and 0-5 in Pac-12 conference play after being swept in both doubles and singles action for the second consecutive match. 

How it Happened

  • The afternoon began with a 6-2 win for USC at No. 3 doubles from Emma Charney and Nathalie Rodilosso over Ellen Puzak and Betina Tokac
  • Shortly after the No. 26 doubles duo in the nation Eryn Cayetano and Madison Sieg clinched the doubles point for the Trojans against Mila Stanojevic and Elys Ventura. The duo won four games straight after going down 3-2 to win the match 6-3.
  • No.1 doubles between Colorado’s Antonia Balzert and Aya El Sayed and the No. 33 doubles duo for USC Naomi Cheong and Snow Han remained unfinished with a score of 5-3 in favor of the Trojans.
  • Madison Sieg the fifth-ranked singles player in the country extended the lead for the Trojans with a 6-0, 6-1 victory at No. 1 singles over Antonia Balzert
  • The Trojans continued to extend the lead behind Eryn Cayetano, ranked 35th, at No. 3 singles, defeating Mila Stanojevic 6-2, 6-1.
  • USC closed out the match with a win at No. 2 singles from No. 83-ranked Snow Han over Colorado’s Elys Ventura 7-5, 6-0.
  • At No. 4 singles between Aya El Sayed and McKenna Koenig remained unfinished in the second set with a score of 6-3, 5-4 in favor of El Sayed and the Buffs. 
  • Colorado’s Betina Tokac and USC’s Nathalie Rodilosso matched up at No. 5 singles but the match was unfinished going into the third set. Tokac took the first set 6-2 for Colorado, with Rodilosso winning the second set 6-4 to set up what would have been a third set.
  • The last match of the day at No. 6 singles between Carri Hayes and Isabelle Lee remained unfinished in the third set with a score of 1-6, 6-1, 1-0 in favor of the Buffs.

Up Next 

The Buffs return home next week for two matches starting with Washington State Friday, April 7 at 1:00 p.m. MST. CU will continue at home on Sunday, April 9 at 11:00 a.m. MST. The two matches will look to be the first outdoor home matches of the spring at the CU Tennis Complex on south campus.
