Three Huskers on the Nebraska men’s tennis team, Roni Hietaranta, Calvin Mueller and Nic Wiedenhorn, earned Academic All-District honors, the College Sports Communicators announced on Tuesday.
Hietaranta, a psychology major, Mueller, a business administration major, and Wiedenhorn, a sports media and communications major, were crucial to the team’s success this season. Hietaranta played nearly all of his matches in the No. 1 singles spot, while Mueller and Wiedenhorn helped anchor the backend of the singles lineup.
Hietaranta, a sophomore, was a recipient of the 2023 Sam Foltz 27 Leadership Award and is a member of the 2023 Tom Osborne Citizenship Team. On March 15, Hietaranta was named the Big Ten Athlete of the Week.
Mueller, a sophomore, and Wiedenhorn, a junior, are also members of the 2023 Tom Osborne Citizenship Team.
