GAINESVILLE, Fla. – With the fall tennis season quickly approaching, the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) has released the Division I Men’s National Preseason Rankings sponsored by Tennis-Point Tuesday.
To start fall play, one Gator is ranked for singles, one pair earned their spot in doubles and one Gator found their way into the freshman/newcomer top 15.
Sophomore student Jeremy Jin opens at a career high ranking No. 24 in the singles after being ranked as high as No. 57 last season. In his debut season, Jin picked up five ranked wins in singles and was one of three players to receive both an All-SEC team and All-SEC Freshman team honor.
In the doubles rankings, Jeremy Jin pairs up with Tanapatt Nirundorn at No. 37. Nirundorn concluded his sophomore season with 17 doubles victories while Jin ended his season with 11 doubles win. This marks the first time the two have been paired together.
Ben Weintraub enters the newcomer rankings at No. 13. The freshman went 19-8 in pro-level matches and notched a 45-39 record in ITF, ATP, and Davis Cup level matches.
The Gators begin their fall slate with the Bama Invite in Tuscaloosa, Ala., from Sept. 13-15.
