Terrapins Ranked No. 50 in ITA's End Of Year Rankings

COLLEGE PARK, MD — The University of Maryland women’s tennis team was ranked No. 50 in ITA’s final team rankings for the 2023-24 year.

This is the first time the Terps finished in the top 50 of ITA’s rankings since 2011.

The Terrapins finished the season with a 16-10 record overall and a sixth place finish in the Big Ten, going 6-5 in conference play.

The Terps record includes an stellar 12-1 record at home, which is the teams best home record since going 13-1 at home in 2021-22.

The Terps picked up five wins against Top 75 opponents, including wins over No. 48 Memphis, No. 44 Princeton and No. 29 Wisconsin. Maryland’s 4-3 win over Wisconsin was the programs first win over a top 30 ranked opponent since 2013.

The teams national ranking is an improvement from last year, previously ranking at No. 52 in ITA’s end of year team rankings.

Selma Cadar and Kallista Liu finished the year with over 20 wins in singles. Minorka Miranda and Maria Budin finished the year with over 20 wins in doubles.

“The team did a great job this year battling through adversity with injuries to end in the top 50,” said Head Coach Katie Dougherty. “We were disappointed to not make the NCAA tournament- our ultimate goal, but experienced so much growth throughout the year and such a fun group of people to be around.”

“This was an incredibly hard working and resilient team, we’re looking forward to continuing to building on this year and all the new changes and opportunities in the Big Ten next year,” said Coach Dougherty.
