BOULDER—The Colorado Buffaloes Tennis Team, off to a 6-2 start early in the 2023 spring season, have entered the team rankings at No. 62, the Intercollegiate Tennis Association announced Tuesday morning.
This is the first time the Buffs have been ranked under coach Anthony Pham and the first team ranking since March 10, 2021, when the Buffs entered that poll on the heels of beating No. 12 California.
The ITA begins the season by ranking the top 25 until enough matches have been contested to expand the ranking, and this is the first ranking this spring season beyond the top 25.
The Buffs beat BYU, 4-3, this past week, and the Cougars came in at No. 72 in the rankings. One of the Buffs two losses came at Denver, who entered the poll at No. 39.
The Buffs resume action with a trip to Lincoln, Neb., to take on No. 56 Nebraska (Friday at Noon) and South Dakota (Saturday at 10 a.m.) this weekend and then begin Pac-12 play the first weekend of March with No. 22 Stanford and No. 66 California coming to Boulder on March 3 & 5, respectively.
All 10 other Pac-12 teams are also ranked, led by No. 19 Arizona State with No. 24 USC, No. 26 Washington, No. 31 Arizona, No. 36 Utah, No. 55 Oregon, No. 59 UCLA and No. 69 Washington State all ahead on the Buffs schedule. In all, 11 of the Buffs 13 remaining opponents are in the rankings.
