Tennis Improves to 4-0 with Road Victory Over Army

WEST POINT, N.Y. — The Rutgers tennis team (4-0) defeated Army on Friday afternoon, 5-2, in its road opener.  

The Scarlet Knights improve to 4-0 with the victory for the first time since spring 2018.  

Doubles 

Rutgers claimed its fourth doubles point in a row, with wins on the first two courts.  

The duo of Tara Chilton/Mai Nguyen earned the 6-2 win while Arina Valitova/Jackelin Lopez followed up with a 6-2 decision to clinch the point. Both pairs are undefeated this slate.  

Singles 

RU followed up a strong singles performance with solid singles play, winning four matches to clinch the win.  

Chloe Brown started things off with a quick straight-set singles win at the No. 6 spot (6-3, 6-4). Amira Badawi gave the team its third point of the day in her first match of the spring season, with a dominant 6-3, 6-1 victory.  

Lopez and Valitova helped to clinch the match win with another pair of straight-set wins on court No. 1 and No. 4, respectively. They are the only two Scarlet Knights undefeated in singles this season.
