Tennis Defeated by No. 62 Penn State in Regular Season Finale

PISCATAWAY, N.J. — The Rutgers women’s tennis team (9-12, 0-10 B1G) was setback by No. 62 Penn State (12-13, 4-7 B1G), 4-0, in its final regular season contest on Sunday afternoon.  

Doubles 

Once again, the Scarlet Knights put up a good fight in doubles, but the Nittany Lions came out on top, taking the first point of the match.  

PSU picked up wins on the first and last courts to secure the early lead.  

Jackeline Lopez/Arina Valitova were in a close 6-5 battle on court No. 2 when play was suspended.  

Singles 

Penn State continued its solid play into singles, winning matches on court No. 1, 2 and 6 to clinch the 4-0 win.  

Despite dropping the first set, Arina Valitova was up 3-1 in the second set on the fifth court when play was suspended. Mai Nguyen also played an extremely close 7-6 (4) first set on the fourth court but fell behind.
