PRINCETON, N.J. — The Rutgers women’s tennis team concluded its time at the Princeton Invitational on Sunday, collecting a total of six victories, four singles and two doubles. The Scarlet Knights close out the weekend with 22 total wins, 14 singles and eight doubles.
In doubles play, RU had five different sets of pairs earn wins. The duos included Amira Badawi and Mai Nguyen, Yana Gurevich and Daira Cardenas, Badawi and Minchae Kim, Jackeline Lopez and Naomi Karki, and Cardenas and Arina Valitova.
In singles competitions, eight Scarlet Knights recorded at least one victory across the three-day event.
Doubles
Rutgers competed in three doubles competitions on Sunday, earning wins over Temple and LIU.
Badawi and Nguyen took on the Owl’s Marianthi Christoforidou and Thamara Frasser Kawaratani, recording a 6-3 victory.
To close out the weekend’s doubles success, Gurevich and Cardenas faced Mia Tsoukalas and Kate Jorjoliani, battling to a 6-4 win over the Sharks.
Singles
The Scarlet Knight’s four singles victories on day three were courtesy of Lopez, Valitova, Nguyen, and Kim. Each of the wins came against opponents of Temple or LIU.
Lopez and Kim each recorded straight-sets wins over the Owls. Lopez won by a score of 6-4, 6-1, and Kim recorded a 6-2, 6-0 victory.
Nguyen also earned a win over Temple, defeating Jessie Zheng, 4-6, 6-3, 1-0 (11-9).
Valitova faced LIU’s Jorjoliani in her singles competition, earning a 7-6 (2), 2-1 victory.
