Tennessee Men’s Tennis Summer Update: Tennessee Representatives Take on National and International Stages

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Tennessee men’s tennis will be well represented worldwide over the next few months as multiple Vols will take their talents to various pro tournaments.
 
Current and former Tennessee men’s tennis players have already been very busy throughout the year with numerous tournaments having commenced thus far.
 
Below are updates from the Tennessee representatives and any upcoming tournaments they are set to compete in.

Current Vols

 

Filip Pieczonka

In his first summer tournament on the summer, Pieczonka reached the quarterfinal of the M15 in Grodzisk Mazowiecki, Poland. The rising sophomore eventually fell to Ignacio Monzon, 7-6(5), 1-6, 6-4. The Gdansk, Poland, native is right back to work and will compete in Koszalin, Poland, later this week. He has an ATP standing of 1400th in singles and 970th in doubles.

 

Shunsuke Mitsui

A recent All-American in singles, Mitsui sits at 789th in the ATP singles rankings and 474th in doubles. The rising senior is set to begin his summer campaign in the coming weeks.

 

Alex Kotzen

Kotzen, a November signee who will join the Vols for the 2024-25 campaign, has earned an ATP ranking of 935th. He will compete in his first pro event of the summer this week in Wichita, Kansas. 

Former Vols

 

Blaise Bicknell (Fall 2021-Spring 2023)

Former Vol Bicknell is currently ranked 311th in the ATP singles rankings. He is set to compete in the Lima Challenger in Lima, Peru, later this week and will face Gonzalo Villanueva in the first round. 

Angel Diaz (Fall 2021-Spring 2024)

A recent All-American in doubles, Diaz holds an ATP mark of 610th in doubles. He is set to start competing in tournaments in South America in the coming weeks. 

 

Pat Harper (Fall 2018-Spring 2023)

A three-time doubles All-American and 2021 National Champion alongside Adam Walton, Harper is up to 271st in the ATP standings in doubles and recently reached the semifinals of the Tyler Tennis Championships in Tyler, Texas. He and his partner, David Stevenson, eventually fell to James Trotter and Hans Hach Verdugo, 6-4, 7-6(3). Harper is 16-11 in doubles on the year so far. 

 

Emile Hudd (Fall 2021-Spring 2023)

A 2023 All-SEC First Team selection, Hudd currently holds an ATP standing of 684th in singles and 279th in doubles after recently making the semifinals of the M15 Celje in Celje, Slovenia. He eventually fell to Blaz Rola, 7-6(2), 6-3. He has a 21-7 record on this year’s campaign so far in…
