Tech welcomes No. 28 VCU for Sunday clash


BLACKSBURG – Virginia Tech men’s tennis will host Virginia Commonwealth at 3 p.m. on Sunday at Burrows-Burleson Tennis Center.

CRUISING THROUGH THE COMMONWEALTH

Sunday’s match against VCU marks the fourth in-state foe the Hokies have faced thus far this season going 3-0 and outscoring them 17-3. Tech entered the latest ITA poll at No. 54 featuring Jordan Chrysostom and Ryan Fishback as the No. 4 doubles pairing in the country. Fishback ranked as the No. 86 singles player in the nation while also being ranked alongside Alberto Orso as the No. 27 doubles pairing. Fishback and Chrysostom have played excellent tennis going 3-0 including a ranked victory. Fishback anchors Court 1 for Hokies leading the team with six singles wins and a 1-1 record against nationally ranked foes.

RAMS

VCU travels to Blacksburg with an impressive 10-1 record coming off a 7-0 sweep of No. 64 South Florida on Thursday. The Rams are 1-0 against ACC opponents knocking off Clemson, 4-0, at the ITA Kickoff Weekend. Matisse Bobichon headlines the group ranked at No. 62 in singles and No. 53 alongside Rayane Stable in doubles. Bobichon is 7-1 in singles matches this season including a 5-1 mark on Court 1.
