Tech travels to Cary for ITA All-American Championships

DAY 3 –

Cary, N.C. – Uslu and Aksu finished their time at the ITA All-American Championships on Monday, Sept. 23. 

The duo fell to Vanderbilt’s Celia-Belle Mohr and Sophia Webster in straight sets. They were slated to play in the consolation draw tomorrow but withdrew due to injury.

DAY 2 –

Cary, N.C. –  Özlem Uslu and Semra Aksu advanced to the quarterfinals of the prequalifying draw of the doubles event on Sunday, Sept. 22. 

The Turkish duo pulled out a straight-set win over N.C. State’s Jasmine Conway and Kristina Paskaukas. They won the first set 7-6, 7-3 in the tiebreak and battled for a second-set win as they won the tiebreak 7-5. 

Uslu won her first match of the day against Princeton’s Eva Elbaz, coming back after falling in the first set 6-2 to win 6-1, 6-3. She fell in her second match of the day to Carmen Andreea Herea of the University of Texas-Austin, 6-3, 7-5. 

Aksu fell in the opening round of the consolation draw to Lily Fairclough of Southern California 6-3, 7-5. 

DAY 1 –

Cary, N.C. – Özlem Uslu and Semra Aksu kicked off their week at the ITA All-American Championships, each with a singles match and a doubles match on Saturday, Sept. 21. 

Uslu advanced to the round of 64 with a 6-3, 6-1 sweep of South Carolina’s Misa Malkin. She plays again, on Sunday at 9 a.m. ET against Eva Elbaz of Princeton University. 

Aksu fell in the first round to East Tennessee State’s Daniela Rivera 7-6 (7-4), 6-0. She will compete in the consolation draw on Sunday at 1 p.m. ET against Lily Fairclough of Southern California. 

The two paired up for doubles competition on Saturday afternoon, defeating McKenna Schaefbauer and Kasia Treiber of Illinois, 7-5, 1-6, 10-4. They will play N.C. State’s Jasmine Conway and Kristina Paskaukas Sunday at 6:30 p.m. ET.
