Syracuse Set For ITA Northeast Regional


SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Syracuse women’s tennis program is set for its second competition of the fall season, as the squad heads to Dartmouth College in Hanover, New Hampshire for the ITA Northeast Regional Championship (Sept. 30th to Oct. 2nd). 

Syracuse is one of 11 schools that will compete in the northeast regional. Dartmouth, Fairfield, Harvard, Merrimack, Niagara, Providence, Quinnipiac, Sacred Heart, Siena, and Stonehill will all be represented in the event. 

Zeynep Erman, Ines Fonte, and Shiori Ito will represent the team in both doubles and singles play. Viktoriya Kanapatskaya will participate in doubles, while Polina Kozyreva will take part in singles action. 

‘Cuse has seen much success at regionals over the years. All-American Gabrielle Knutson won the singles crown in 2017, capping off three consecutive years of Syracuse regional singles titles. Senior Sofya Treshcheva took the doubles championship with teammate Sofya Golubovskaya in the 2018 tournament, and Miranda Ramirez advanced to the singles semifinals in 2019. Most recently in 2021 the Duo of Shiori Ito and Miyuka Kimoto took the doubles crown.
