Stephenson Selected As Team USA Coach For Master’U BNP Paribas

Washington women’s tennis head coach Robin Stephenson will jet to France next week, as she was selected as a Team USA coach for the 2023 Master’U BNP Paribas Championships.

The ITA announced Tuesday that Stephenson, along with former Boise State men’s tennis coach Greg Patton and Hawaii Pacific women’s coach Chelsea Patton, will coach the US in the tournament, which will take place Dec. 1-3 in Honfleur, France.

“I am incredibly honored to have been selected to coach team USA for this prestigious event,” Stephenson said. “I have heard so many great things about the tournament and the overall experience. Coach Patton and I feel that we have put together a team of exceptional people and the best of the best in college tennis. I am thrilled to be part of their journey for this event and I’m looking forward to learning a lot from everyone, building new relationships and competing against the other participating countries.”

The US has won 10 of the 16 Master’U Championships and will look to secure another as they are set to take on top players from Australia, Belgium, Great Britain, France, Germany, Ireland and Switzerland.

“We are excited to get to France next week and prepare to bring the championship back to the USA once again!” Stephenson added.

Just three players each on the men’s and women’s side are selected to represent Team USA in the tournament. This year it will be: Savannah Broadus (Pepperdine), Fiona Crawley (North Carolina), Mary Stoiana (Texas A&M), Murphy Cassone (Arizona State), Eliott Spizzirri (Texas) and Gavin Young (Michigan).

The format of the tournament will feature two men’s and women’s singles, followed by men’s doubles, women’s doubles and finish with mixed doubles.
