State Host No. 14 Tennessee To Close Regular Season


STARKVILLE – Mississippi State women’s tennis will wrap up its regular season against No. 14 Tennessee at 1 p.m. on Sunday.

Prior to the match, MSU will also honor four seniors who will be celebrated for their time as a Bulldogs – Emmanouela Antonaki, Maddie Bemisderfer, Gia Cohen and Maddie McKee.

Antonaki is State’s all-time leader in career singles wins with 96 and is currently ranked 95th nationally. Bemisderfer, who transferred in from Indiana Wesleyan last fall, currently has five overall singles wins and seven overall doubles victories.

Like Bemisderfer, Cohen also transferred in for her final season from Georgia Tech and is ranked first on the squad with 14 overall doubles wins. McKee is wrapping up her two seasons with the Bulldogs having won three doubles matches.

The MSU lineup features 95th-ranked Antonaki. The Bulldogs enter Sunday at 10-13 overall and still searching for their first conference win.

Tennessee enters Sunday’s match at 17-4 overall and 10-2 in conference play. The Volunteers defeated Ole Miss 4-3 on Friday.

Tennessee’s lineup features three ranked singles players: Elza Tomase (21), Rebeka Mertena (26) and Daria Kuczer (39).

Additionally, the Volunteers have the 40th-ranked doubles tandem in Mertena and Esther Adeshina.
