Stanford Shuts Out Saint Mary’s


STANFORD, Calif. – Opening the 2024 spring season in winning fashion, No. 9 Stanford men’s tennis rolled to a 7-0 shutout over Saint Mary’s. The Cardinal improves to 12-0 all-time against the Gaels.

Stanford led early with a pair of wins in doubles. The tandem of Max Basing and Nico Godsick, who made his collegiate debut, picked up a 6-2 win in the top position while Kyle Kang and Harsh Hemang Parikh, also competing for the first time for Stanford, added a 6-4 result on court three.

Filip Kolasinski pushed Stanford’s lead to 2-0 with an efficient 6-1, 6-1 victory on court six, followed by a 6-1, 7-5 win on court two from Kang. Neel Rajesh, ranked No. 53 in the country, clinched the match with a 6-2, 6-3 win in the fifth position. The clinching point was the 10th for Rajesh in his career.

Stanford wrapped up the afternoon with wins from Basing on court one, Godsick on court three and Hudson Rivera on court four.

The Cardinal returns to action on Saturday, Jan. 27 against Memphis on Michigan’s campus in the opening round of ITA Kickoff Weekend.
