Spring Schedule Announced - Stanford University Athletics

STANFORD, Calif. – The spring season is just over a month away for Stanford men’s tennis, which unveiled a challenging schedule that includes 12 home matches at Taube Family Tennis Center.

The Cardinal will look for its second Pac-12 championship in the past three seasons, led by returners Arthur Fery and Max Basing, the latter of which is ranked No. 7 nationally by the ITA while Fery was the No. 1 ranked player for a time last season before taking this fall off. Nishesh Basavareddy has burst onto the scene as a freshman, winning the ITA National Fall Championship and entering the spring as the nation’s No. 2 singles player.

The season opens with duals at Taube against Saint Mary’s (Jan. 11) and Santa Clara (Jan. 20), sandwiching a trip to Thousand Oaks for the Sherwood Championships from Jan. 13-16. A non-conference bout with Cal on Jan. 21 sees the Cardinal face a true road opponent for the first time.

The Cardinal will host Georgia Tech on Jan. 29 on ITA Kickoff Weekend, with Pepperdine and Texas A&M also making a trip to the Farm. The team that advances in the regional will advance to the ITA Indoor National Championships, held Feb. 17-20 in Seattle. The Cardinal won its regional in Orlando a year ago and has qualified for the national event in four of the last five seasons.

The Cardinal travels to Orlando from Feb. 4-5 for neutral site clashes against Georgia and Florida before returning home to face Sacramento State (Feb. 11) and San Francisco (Feb. 25). The program will compete at the Pacific Coast Doubles tournament in La Jolla from March 3-5 and sees its final non-conference tune-up before Pac-12 play begins on March 9 against Texas at Taube.

Pac-12 play opens March 17-18 at home against Arizona and Arizona State, before a trip to Utah to face BYU (March 30) and the Utes (March 31). Three consecutive Pac-12 home matches follow against USC (April 7), UCLA (April 8) and California (April 15), and the regular season concludes April 21-22 at Washington and Oregon.

The Pac-12 Championships begin April 27 in Ojai, California.
