Spartans Travel to Ann Arbor for ITA Midwest Regionals

EAST LANSING, MICH. – Men’s Tennis will be traveling to Ann Arbor, Michigan for the ITA Midwest Regionals from Thursday, Oct. 19 through Monday, Oct. 23 after a historically-successful campaign at ITA All-American Championships last time out.

All Spartans are expected to compete in the tournament’s main draw with the exception of grad-senior Ronnie Hohmann, sophomore David Saye and senior Reed Crocker who will all sit out the event. Sophomore and team No.1 Ozan Baris will bypass singles but look to make a run in the doubles draw with junior Max Sheldon, who together rank as the No. 2 doubles pairing in the nation according to ITA’s preseason rankings.

ITA No. 110, grad-senior Sebastien Collard will lead the front for MSU in singles while senior Graydon Lair and sophomore Josh Portnoy will look to string together results to prove their individual improvements from last season. Senior Luke Baylis, who won three singles matches at ITA All-Americans in Tulsa, Oklahoma just two weeks ago, will look to also make a run in Midwest Regional bracket.

As all of the Spartans were granted bids into the main draw, there will be no competition for MSU until the second day of play at the tournament on Friday.
