Spartan Men’s Tennis Set to Compete in the ITA All-Americans Tournament


East Lansing, Mich. — Six Michigan State men’s tennis players are heading to Tulsa, Oklahoma on Sept 21-29 for the ITA All-American tournament.
 
This tournament isn’t just another event on the calendar; it’s an opportunity to showcase hard work and improvement from last season.
 
Singles pre-qualifying matches take place Saturday through Sunday. Sophomore Taym Alazmeh, junior David Saye and senior Max Sheldon will be the three Spartans who take part in the pre-qualifying rounds. The winners of those matches will move on to qualifying.
 
Back from the Davis Cup, junior Aristotelis Thanos is looking forward to getting a start to the fall season. He will start his time in the tournament on Monday, Sept 23 in the first round of qualifying.
 
The winners of qualifying will be entered into the Main Draw of the tournament. Freshman Matt Forbes and junior Ozan Baris join the rest of the Spartans in action on Wednesday, Sept 23 in the first round of the Main Draw.
 
MSU players are looking to fight hard in this tournament to show all the hard work they have put in during the offseason.
 
Quarterfinals in the Main Draw of All-Americans will qualify players for individual singles and/or doubles for the NCAA championship, which are now being held in the fall.
