Spartan Men’s Tennis Set Sights on M15 Ann Arbor Tournament

East Lansing, Mich. – After a week at ITA All-Americans and Milwaukee Tennis Classic, three Michigan State men’s tennis players are heading to M15 Ann Arbor this week.

Great effort was made by players at the ITA All-Americans and Milwaukee Tennis Classic but these Spartans are ready to continue the fall season and get prepared for ITA Team Regionals.

Senior Josh Portnoy, sophomore Taym Alazmeh and freshman Danial Rakhmatullayev start their time in Ann Arbor on Monday, Sept 30.

Portnoy finished his weekend in Milwaukee with a 2-2 record in singles and 1-1 mark in doubles action.

Alazmeh ended his time at the ITA All-Americans with a 2-1 record in singles on the week.

This will be Rakhmatullayev’s first tournament with the Spartans, so he is looking to kick off the season the right way.

The Spartans will compete in the single competition in Ann Arbor. They will start in the Qualifying Draw and work their way to the Main Draw, which starts on Wednesday.

The team is looking toward a good week in Ann Arbor to prepare for ITA Team Regionals, that MSU is hosting in East Lansing, Mich. on Oct. 10-14.
