SAN RAMON, Calif. – Arizona seniors Allie Skaggs and Gustaf Strom have been awarded the Pac-12 Tom Hansen Medal, as announced by the league office on Monday.

A Conference Medal is awarded annually to each member institution’s outstanding senior male and female student-athlete based on the exhibition of the greatest combination of performance and achievement in scholarship, athletics and leadership.

Skaggs closed out her career with Arizona Softball as an All-American and Gold Glove winner. She completed her degree in Journalism with a 3.833 GPA and was named the Pac-12 Scholar-Athlete of the Year during her senior campaign. Skaggs was a two-time CSC Academic All-District honoree and a two-time NFCA All-America Scholar-Athlete. She becomes the 11th Arizona Softball student-athlete to receive the Tom Hansen Medal and is the first since Alicia Hollowell in 2006.

Skaggs was a three-time All-Pac-12 honoree in addition to being named the 2023 Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Year and played a key role in Arizona’s 25th Women’s College World Series appearance in 2022. She tied the program record for home runs in a single game (3) and ranked 12th in program history for home runs in a single season (24 in 2022). Skaggs finished her career with 57 home runs to rank 13th in Arizona Softball history and was awarded the Ruby Award as the department’s top female senior student-athlete at the athletics department’s annual CATSYs Award Show.

Strom has been a part of the rise of the Arizona Men’s Tennis program, helping lead the team to three consecutive Pac-12 Regular Season Championships as well as the program’s first Pac-12 Tournament Championship. He was a member of all three Wildcat squads that made it to the NCAA Championships Sweet 16, including the program’s first-ever appearance in the round in 2021. He is a four-time All-Pac-12 honoree, including three First Team accolades.

The Stockholm, Sweden, native was named the 2024 Pac-12 Men’s Tennis Scholar-Athlete of the Year and was a two-time CSC Academic All-District honoree. As a freshman with the Wildcats, Strom was the Pac-12 Rookie of the Year and the ITA Southwest Region Rookie of the Year.
