Several Tigers Advance at ITA Regionals – Clemson Tigers Official Athletics Site

WINSTON SALEM, N.C. — On the second day of ITA Regionals hosted by Wake Forest University, Clemson secured positive results in both doubles and singles play. Highlighted by three singles victories, the Tigers are well-positioned for the third day of action on Saturday.

Beginning with doubles play, Cristina Mayorova and Eleni Louka dominated their first match of the day, winning 8-1 over the Queens University pairing of Tuliakova/Bertran De Balanda. They ultimately fell the following match.

Jenna Thompson and Samantha Buyckx played a fantastic match, winning 8-3 over Davidson’s Schafer/Patel. In their following match, they dropped a closely contested battle 8-6 to NC State’s Abrams/Rencheli.

Louka got the day started for Clemson in singles, defeated Wake Forest’s Whitley Pate in straight sets, 6-3, 6-4. She will play on Saturday at 9 a.m. against Duke’s Elizabeth Coleman. Buyckx also earned a victory in straight sets fashion, 6-3, 7-5, and she;ll take on Cameron Morra from Duke on Saturday.

Mayorova earned an impressive comeback win after dropping the first set. She battled to win the match 6-7 (7-3), 6-4, 7-6 (8-6). She’ll face off with Wake’s Casie Wooten on Saturday.

Dani Medvedeva, Sophia Hatton and Thompson will all compete in the backdraw on Saturday.
