Seven ACC Men's Tennis Teams Earn NCAA Championship Bids


REENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) – Seven Atlantic Coast Conference men’s tennis teams earned bids to the 2023 NCAA Championships as announced by the NCAA Monday evening.
 
ACC Champion and No. 7 seed Virginia, No. 12 Duke, No. 16 North Carolina, Florida State, Louisville, NC State and Wake Forest all earned selections.
 
Virginia (22-5), making its 18th consecutive NCAA appearance and 23rd overall, will host Navy (23-19) in the first round. Duke (31-6), which earned its 30th tournament bid, will take on UNC Wilmington (17-8) in Durham. North Carolina (17-8) earned its 31s overall NCAA tournament selection and will host Drake (16-10) in Chapel Hill.
 
In other NCAA first-round matchups, Florida State (19-8) earned its 24th NCAA bid and will play Baylor (17-15) in Columbia, South Carolina. Louisville (16-11), which earned its 14th and second-straight NCAA bid, is matched up with Texas Tech (14-10) in Columbus, Georgia. NC State (15-9) will face Oklahoma (14-11) in Athens, Georgia. Wake Forest (25-11) takes on Memphis (13-7) in Knoxville, Tennessee. 
  
First- and second-round competition takes place May 5-6 or 6-7 and features four teams playing in a single-elimination format. The winner of each site advances to super-regional competition May 12 or 13. Each super-regional site will feature two teams playing a single-elimination format. The super-regional winners advance to the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Florida, where the eight teams will compete for the national championship May 18-20. This year’s event will be conducted jointly with the NCAA Divisions II and III Men’s and Women’s Tennis Championships and hosted by the University of Central Florida and the Greater Orlando Sports Commission.
