Aryan Chadhaury 2

Every athlete has a go-to playlist that they listen to before they take the field, step on the court, or dive into the pool. In Pregame Playlist we bring Stanford student-athletes’ playlists to you! Hear from senior Aryan Chaudhary of Men’s Tennis, as he lets us know about his pregame ritual and how he incorporates his favorite music into it. Let’s see what music has helped him and Men’s tennis earn the top spot of the Pac-12 standings.

GoStanford.com: What’s your favorite song on this playlist and why?

Aryan Chaudhary: “I’d say the Sky Walker remix because the original is already one of my favorite songs and the remix just gets me even more hype.”

GS: Who are your favorite artists these days?

AC: “I’ve been listening to a lot of Travis Scott and A Boogie wit da Hoodie, but will always be a permanent Juice WRLD fan.”

GS: What about this playlist gets you ready for competition?

AC: “Before a match, I love music that amps me up. I’m normally a pretty laid back person so I try to activate demon mode with a mix of heavy bass and lyrics that I can yell aggressively.”

GS: How would you describe your music taste in general?

AC: “I listen to a variety of genres depending on my mood. Right now, I’m more into chill rap and EDM, but I don’t think there’s any type of music that I can’t listen to.”

GS: Does this playlist different from what you listen to normally? If so, how come?

AC: “This playlist is pretty standard for me: I listen to similar stuff when I’m trying to feel upbeat or energized.”

GS: Any unique stories behind what these songs meant to you or your team?

AC: “I can unabashedly say that every time “You Belong With Me” comes on, our team goes bar for bar with Taylor.”

GS: How does your music taste compare to the rest of your team’s?
AC: “I’m usually voted to get on aux so my taste is probably superior. My team has a fair mix of interests ranging from house to country to rap so I try to cater to all of them.”

GS: Describe your relationship with music, and how/if that relates to your sport.

AC: “Music makes life so much more enjoyable for me because it carries me through tough times and amplifies the good times. Since ups and downs are common with all sports, I think the two go very closely hand in hand for me. I also love sharing my music with teammates and discovering new songs that they show me.”
