OUR STATE! Women’s Tennis Wins Sixth Straight Match in Territorial Cup Match

TEMPE, Ariz. – After a back and forth Territorial Cup matchup, No. 31 Sun Devil Women’s Tennis (14-8, 6-4 Pac-12) took down the No. 39 Wildcats (17-11, 5-6 Pac-12) at Whiteman Tennis Center on Saturday afternoon.
 
With their win, the Sun Devils take the Territorial Cup win and marks the ninth win in a row against Arizona.

The Wildcats took the doubles point against the Sun Devils, winning matches on courts one and two. The duo of Belen Neevenhoven and Martyna Ostrzygalo earned the clinch point on court two to enter the singles matches up one.
 
In the latter part of the match during singles play, Argyrokastriti earned the first point for ASU, 6-2, 6-0. Court five followed soon after where No. 103 Tverijonaite gave the Sun Devils the lead after defeating Castillo-Meza, 6-2, 6-2. Another intense match on court one pulled the Devils farther ahead as No. 73 Morlet took the match in a tiebreaking two sets, 6-1, 7-6 (2). The Wildcats won on Courts 5 and 6 to tie up the match 3-3. On Court 2, Chelsea Fontenel clinched the match for the Sun Devils with a 6-3, 4-6, 6-4 victory.
