CARY, N.C. (theACC.com) – North Carolina and Virginia will battle for the 2024 Atlantic Coast Conference Women’s Tennis Championship after each collected wins during Saturday’s semifinals at the Cary Tennis Park. The championship match is slated for 2 p.m. Sunday, April 21, on ACC Network Extra.
Eleven-time ACC Tournament Champion North Carolina is seeking its sixth title in the last eight years while Virginia returns to the finals for the fourth time in program history and for the first time in two years. The Cavaliers won it all in 2014 and 2015 but fell to Duke in 2022.
No. 1 seed North Carolina swept No. 4 seed NC State and No. 2 seed Virginia blanked No. 3 seed Florida State, both by a score of 4-0.
The Tar Heels claimed the doubles point and wins on Courts 3, 5 and 2 from No. 50 Carson Tanguilig, No. 27 Anika Yarlagadda and No. 36 Elisabeth Scotty, who clinched the match with a 6-2, 6-3 win over NC State’s No. 69 Abigail Rencheli.
The Cavaliers battled for the doubles point before handily earning a shutout win with victories on Courts 6, 2 and 3 from Mélodie Collard, No. 22 Hibah Shaikh and Natasha Subhash, who clinched the match over Florida State’s Anna Arkadianou, 6-2, 6-2.
