CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) – Miami’s Alexa Noel has been selected the 2024 Atlantic Coast Conference Women’s Tennis Scholar-Athlete of the Year and headlines the sport’s 2024 All-ACC Academic Team announced Tuesday.

The 2024 ACC Player of the Year, Noel won the 2024 NCAA Women’s Tennis Singles Championship following a 27-8 season that resulted in her ranking of No. 3 ITA national ranking. The Summit, New Jersey, native, who entered the tournament as the No. 8 seed, became the 10th ACC student-athlete to capture the women’s singles tennis NCAA title, the first since 2019, and the third player from Miami to win.

Additionally, Noel was named an ITA All-American for the third time in her career, as well as a 2024 Honda Sport Award finalist. The redshirt junior finished with an 8-4 record in conference play and a 21-6 overall record over nationally ranked top-50 opponents.

Noel is the seventh ACC Scholar-Athlete of the Year from Miami and the first since Estela Perez-Somarriba in 2021. She led 17 out of the 18 All-ACC honorees who also made the All-ACC Academic Team.

Nine teams had five or more honorees on the 2024 All-ACC Academic Team, led by North Carolina with eight. Clemson, Georgia Tech, Syracuse and Virginia followed with seven honorees each, while Florida State, Notre Dame, Virginia Tech and Wake Forest had six.

Seven student-athletes were named to the All-ACC Academic Team for the fourth time: North Carolina’s Fiona Crawley and Elizabeth Scotty, Notre Dame’s Page Freeman, Syracuse’s Viktoryia Kanapatskaya, Virginia’s Hibah Shaikh and Natasha Subhash, and Wake Forest’s Brooke Killingsworth.

The ACC Scholar-Athlete of the Year award was established in September 2007 to be awarded annually to the top junior or senior student-athlete in their respective sports. Academic requirements for selection to the All-ACC Academic Team are a 3.0 grade point average for the previous semester and a 3.0 cumulative grade point average during one’s academic career. In addition, student-athletes must compete in at least 50 percent of their team’s contests.
