BOULDER – The No. 9 ranked USC Women’s Tennis team continued their winning ways on Friday, April 5 as the Trojans downed Pac-12 rival Colorado 6-1 at the CU Tennis Courts. 
 
With the win, USC improves to 15-6 overall and is now 6-1 in Pac-12 play –sitting at the top of the conference standings. 
 
USC struggled to get going early, with Colorado claiming the doubles point. The Buffs won on courts one and three. First, No. 54 Grace Piper and Parker Fry fell to CU’s Bubalo and Nelson 6-4 on court three before USC’s No. 14 ranked Eryn Cayetano and Emma Charney lost 6-4 to Aya El Sayed and Pia Rebec 6-4 on center court. 
 
No. 2 doubles went unfinished during a tiebreaker between Lily Fairclough/McKenna Koenig and Stanojevic/Ventura. The score was 6-6 (4-2) with Colorado leading the tiebreak when the match was suspended.
 
USC’s No. 28 ranked Emma Charney was first to score for the Trojans as she’d beat Elys Ventura 6-4, 6-0 on court two. 
 
With the match tied at one-all, No. 68 ranked Cayetano extended the lead as she downed Betina Tokac 7-5, 6-1 on court four.
 
USC junior Sloane Morra saw action for the first time in a few weeks on Friday, winning her match 6-1, 7-5 at singles six to position the Trojans one point away from a team victory. 
 
The match was clinched at No. 1 singles as No. 100 Snow Han downed Aya El Sayed 6-4, 7-5. 
 
Play continued with McKenna Koenig downed Alexandra Abyasova 7-6(5), 6-4 to give the Trojans a 5-1 lead. 
 
In the final match of the afternoon, No. 56 Grace Piper and Colorado’s Mila Stanojevic had as close of a match as possible with both sets going to a tiebreaker. The first set ended in favor of Piper 7-6(3). In the second set, Stanojevic held a lead for most of the tiebreaker but in the end, it went the other way giving Piper a 7-6(8) win.
 
USC is back in action on Sunday, April 7 against Utah at 10 a.m. PST in Salt Lake City.
