LOS ANGELES – The No. 9 ranked USC women’s tennis team endured a nearly four-hour rain delay before downing Hawaii 4-0 at Marks Stadium on Sunday, March 24.
USC began with singles play and never let up as McKenna Koenig, No. 108 Eryn Cayetano, No. 28 Emma Charney and Lily Fairclough each recorded individual wins over their respective Rainbow Wahine opponents. Koenig downed Sheena Masuda 6-0, 6-4 on court five, while one court over No. 108 Cayetano beat Hawaii’s Homolkova 6-1, 6-4.
Sophomore Emma Charney recorded USC’s third point of the day as she defeated Nelly Knezkova 6-4, 6-2 on center court.
The match was won on court four as freshman Lily Fairclough beat Hannah Galindo 6-4, 6-3 to solidify the Trojan team victory.
The Women of Troy are back in action on Friday as the Trojans travel to Berkeley, Calif. to take on the Cal Golden Bears. The match is scheduled to be played at 1:30 p.m. at the Hellman Tennis Complex.
