Box Score PISCATAWAY, N.J. – The No. 62 Penn State women’s tennis team (12-13, 4-7 B1G) swept Rutgers (9-11, 0-10 B1G) in the final regular season match.
DOUBLES
The Nttany Lions started out the sweep by taking the doubles point. Ioana Gheorghita and Alina Lebedeva began the success with their 6-2 win over Daira Cardenas and Chloe Brown.
At No. 1, Olivia Dorner and Karly Friedland were able to claim the doubles point for the Blue and White with defeat of Tara Chilton and Amira Badawi, 6-4.
Sofiya Chekhlystova and Alexandra Nielsen were up 6-5 over Jackie Lopez and Arina Valitova before their match was left unfinished.
SINGLES
Alexandra Nielsen took the first singles match of the day against Chloe Brown, 6-1, 6-0, to put Penn State up 2-0. No. 70 Sofiya Chekhlystova easily defeated Jackie Lopez, 6-0, 6-0.
To clinch the match, Ioana Gheorghita bested Tara Chilton, 6-2, 6-2.
Yvonne Zuffova was up 6-4, 4-1 against Amira Badawi before her match was stopped. Karly Friedland held a lead in the second set versus Mai Nguyen, 7-6 (7-4), 2-1 when her match was left unfinished. Olivia Dorner had a one set lead over Arina Valitova, 6-4, 1-2, when he match was stopped.
