No. 60 Women’s Tennis Fell to No. 6 Michigan

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The No. 60 Penn State women’s tennis team (11-11, 3-5 B1G) fell to No. 6 Michigan (18-3, 10-0 B1G) on the road, 4-0.

DOUBLES

The Michigan women’s tennis team struck first and took the doubles point. They claimed wins on courts one and two. 

At No. 2, Karly Friedland and Alexandra Nielsen were defeated by Jaedan Brown and Andrea Cerdan, 6-3.

Sofiya Chekhlystova and Carla Girbau fell in a tough fought match against Jaedan Brown and Andrea Cerdan, 6-4. 

Ioana Gheorghita and Alina Lebedeva were down against Merri Kelly and Kari Miller, 4-2, before their match was left unfinished. 

SINGLES

The Wolverines finished out the win by taking courts three, four and five. 

Olivia Dorner fell in her match against No. 67 Lily Jones, 6-1, 6-2. Carla Girbau was defeated by Andrea Cerdan, 6-1, 6-2. 

Michigan clinched the match win No. 45 Julia Fliegner’s win over Ioana Gheorghita, 6-4, 7-5. 

No. 63 Sofiya Chekhlystova took the first set against No. 23 Jaedan Brown before their match was left unfinished, 7-6 (7-5), 2-3.

Yvonne Zuffova was down in the third set against No. 47 Kari Miller before their match was left unfinished, 6-4, 2-6, 0-2. 

Karly Friedland was about to enter the third set versus Nicole Hammond before their match was left unfinished, 6-3, 6-7 (5-7).
