No. 25 Badgers go undefeated in first doubleheader at home

Box Score 1 MADISON, Wis. – The No. 25 Wisconsin women’s tennis team brought the intensity to the Nielsen Tennis Stadium on Thursday in its first home matches of the year. The Badgers started the day off with a 5-2 win over Northern Illinois and followed that up with a 7-0 win over Milwaukee.
 
The Badgers set the tone early with two doubles wins from the duo of Maria Sholokhova and Ava Markham as well as the duo of Ariel Johnson and Alina Mukhortova. In singles, No. 82 Markham put in a shift against Anastasia Rakita, winning 6-1, 6-1. Charmaine Seah also impressed with her dominant 6-0, 6-3 win against Reagan Welch.
 
In the second matchup against Milwaukee, the Badgers once against swept the doubles matches to win the doubles point. Sholokhova and Markham won their match 6-4 and Seah and Mukhortova won their match 6-2. On the singles side, Sholokhova had a commanding 6-2, 6-1 win against Anika Tylek. Markham, Mukhortova, Johnson and Apte all won their matches in two sets, not allowing their opponents to score more than three points in any sets.
 
Next up, Wisconsin heads to Boise, Idaho for matches against Washington and Boise State. The match against Washington is set for Saturday, Feb. 4 at 3 p.m. (CT) while the match against Boise State starts at 11:30 a.m. (CT) on Sunday.
