Having appeared in the national rankings all season, Turkovic and Spaka have compiled a 7-8 record this spring. In their last time out, they made quick work of USC’s Maddy Sieg/Grace Piper (6-0) in the quarterfinals of the Pac-12 Tournament.
In early April, the pair was instrumental in helping the Sun Devils topple No. 29 USC in Tempe (4-1), courtesy of their 7-5 win over the country’s No. 21 ranked pair of Eryn Cayetano/Maddy Sieg.
After a terrific spring alongside each other last season, Turkovic and Spaka returned in the fall hungry for more. They took home the Women’s Doubles Consolation Draw at the ITA National Fall Championships in November and parlayed it into a career-best No. 7 national ranking.
After qualifying for the tournament last spring, this is the first time the Sun Devils are sending a doubles team to the NCAA Tournament in back-to-back seasons since 2015-16.
It comes less than 24 hours after it was announced that the Sun Devils clinched a spot in their 35th consecutive NCAA Tournament.
Turkovic, Spaka and the Sun Devils are en route to Knoxville, Tennessee, for the opening round of the NCAA Tournament against Wake Forest (May 5, 10 a.m. MST).
