No. 22 Men's Tennis Visits Clemson


EVANSTON, Ill. – No. 22 Northwestern men’s tennis heads southeast to take on the Clemson Tigers on Sunday, Feb. 19 at 11 a.m. CT.

The Wildcats look to extend their two-game winning streak after defeating No. 25 Duke and Alabama on the road over the past two weeks.

Against the Crimson Tide last weekend, the ‘Cats took down Alabama, 4-2. Northwestern took the early lead by winning the doubles point, as the tandem of Ivan Yatsuk and Simen Bratholm earned the 6-3 win. Natan Spear and Trice Pickens then clinched the doubles win for Northwestern with a 7-5 victory.

After singles wins from Gleb Blekher (6-3, 6-1) and Pickens (6-3, 6-4), the Wildcats held a 3-1 lead over Alabama. Presley Thieneman earned the overall win for Northwestern after a 6-3, 3-6, 6-2 victory.

Clemson holds an 8-2 record on the season, most recently defeating Florida Atlantic on Friday. The Tigers began the season 6-0 before dropping two of three to begin February. 

Following Sunday’s matchup, the Wildcats will have a three-game slate next weekend where they host Memphis Friday at 6 p.m. CT, followed by Vanderbilt and UIC at Noon and 5:30 p.m. CT on Sunday. All three matches are at Combe Tennis Center, where admission is free all regular season long.
