No. 22 Men's Tennis Back Home to Host Doubleheader


TEMPE– After three matches and an upset over No. 13 Michigan (5-6) last weekend, No. 22 Arizona State Men’s tennis (6-4) returns to Whiteman Tennis Center for the first home matches in over a month. The Sun Devils host a doubleheader on Friday, February 23, with the first match against Nevada (1-5) at 11:00 a.m. MST and the second against GCU (2-4) at 5:00 p.m. MST. 

Both matches will have live stats available, which can be found here. Admission is free to fans, but those that are unable to attend can follow @SunDevilMTennis on Instagram, X (Twitter), and Facebook for match coverage and updates.

Sun Devil Outlook: 

The Sun Devils competed in the ITA Indoor National Championships, and dropped their first two matches to No. 2 TCU and No. 5 South Carolina before defeating No. 13 Michigan 4-2. In the ITA rankings released on February 20, Murphy Cassone checked in at #9 and Bor Artnak ranks #105 in the singles rankings. Max McKennon and Artnak are currently #26 in doubles rankings. 

Scouting the opponents:

Nevada- The Wolf Pack are 1-5 on the year with the lone win coming in their season opener against UC San Diego on Jan 19. Friday marks their seventh consecutive road match, having not competed at home yet this season. ASU is 2-2 all time against Nevada, and was victorious in the 2023 matchup, coming out on top 4-1.

GCU- The Lopes come to Tempe having hosted their last three matches in Phoenix, where they’ve posted a 1-2 record to improve to 2-4 on the year. GCU is 0-1 on the road this season. Since ASU’s reinstatement, the Lopes have gone winless against the Sun Devils and are 0-5 in the five meetings, scoring just one point in the five contests.
