No. 21 Florida Stays Flawless Against In-State Foes, Sweeps UNF

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Facing their fourth in-state foe of the season, the No. 21 Florida men’s tennis team stayed flawless in Florida and swept North Florida, 7-0, on Tuesday night at the Alfred A. Ring Tennis Complex.
 
Florida (13-10, 5-5 SEC) continued their string of dominance in doubles play against North Florida (14-6, 7-1 ASUN) to kickoff Tuesday’s match. On court two, Nate Bonetto/Tanapatt Nirundorn were the first pair to earn a win, failing to drop a game against PJ Kotan/Bruno Vietri, 6-0.
 
Playing clincher in the doubles for the eighth time this season and in back-to-back matches was Jonah Braswell/Lukas Greif on court three. Up against Breno Marques/Andreas Scott, the Gators tandem converted two break points for a 4-0 lead and went on to secure the victory, 6-3. This marks the eighth-straight match Florida has won the doubles point to begin a match.
 
First Gator off the court in singles was Nirundorn on court six after extending his winning streak to five matches. The freshman raced out to bagel in the first frame and won the following set 6-2 over Scott extending the lead to 2-0. Also collecting a first set bagel was Bonetto on court five and the sophomore completed the straight set victory with a 6-3 second against Marques.
 
Clinching the match win for the Gators for a team-high fifth time was Greif on court four. The senior dropped just one game in both sets against Vietri and breezed by for the 6-1, 6-1 win.
