No. 20 Florida Sweeps Doubleheader against Eastern Kentucky

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The No. 20 Florida men’s tennis completed a midweek doubleheader sweep against the Eastern Kentucky Colonels on Wednesday afternoon at the Alfred A. Ring Tennis Complex.
 
Facing one another for the first time since April 10, 1967, Florida (12-8, 5-3 SEC) raced out with dominant showings in doubles against Eastern Kentucky (4-16, 1-5 ASUN). Beginning in the 10 a.m. morning session, Nate Bonetto/Tanapatt Nirundorn sped past Paul-Antoine Brazet/Kristoffer Stahlbrand, 6-1, for their sixth win together on court two. On court three, the Polish pair of Olek Orlikowski/Borys Zgola made their first appearance as a tandem against J. Anurag Reddy/Estaban Castro Platonoff and dispatched the EKU pair, 6-3, for the doubles point. The win was the both freshman’s first career doubles victory.
 
Florida was just as strong in singles, as all three courts won in straight sets, including two double-bagels, to clinch the first victory of the day. Togan Tokac breezed by Castro Platonoff, 6-0, 6-0 in the six spot followed by No. 92 Will Grant posting an identical score versus Stahlbrand on court two. No. 81 Axel Nefve played clincher for the first time since the Gators’ first victory of the season on Jan. 21, earned a 6-0, 6-1 win over Moritz Mayer at the top singles position.
 
To conclude the doubleheader, Florida started doubles play at 2 p.m. with a new lineup. Pairing up at court three for the first time, Nefve/Zgola failed to drop a game versus Castro Platonoff/Reddy for the first win, 6-0. On court two, No. 17 Nirundorn/Tokac joined forces for the first time…
