No. 2 Women’s Tennis Takes Down Charlotte, 4-0

Chapel Hill – No. 2 Carolina earned a 4-0 victory over the Charlotte 49ers at the Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center in the Championship Match of the ITA Kickoff Weekend. The Tar Heels advance to the ITA National Team Indoor Championships in Seattle, Wash.
 
Behind the doubles pairing of Resse Brantmeier and Elizabeth Scotty the Tar Heels got the early jump with a 6-2 win.  Reilly Tran and Abbey Forbes sealed the deal with a 6-1 victory on court 3, taking the point from Emma Wilkins/Lucia Perruzelova of Charlotte.
 
It was freshman Reese Brantmeier defeating Margaux Maquet 6-3, 6-1 on court two that got things rolling for the Tar Heels in singles action. No. 58 Elizabeth Scotty took down Emma Wilkins 6-1, 6-4 on court five while No. 48 Reilly Tran defeated Kaavy Sawhney 6-0, 6-4 to clinch the final team point giving the Tar Heels the 4-0 victory.
 
The Tar Heels next play at the Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center on Wednesday, February 1^st against No. 6 Georgia at 5 p.m. ET.
 
Following the Georgia match, the Heels will turn their focus toward Seattle, Washington, host of the 2023 ITA National Team Indoor Championships at the Nordstrom Tennis Center on the campus of the University of Washington.
 
Carolina has won the last three 2023 ITA National Team Indoor Championships and six in the last ten seasons.
