MALIBU– No. 18 Arizona State Men’s Tennis (5-1) downed the Pepperdine Waves (1-2), 4-3, in Friday’s contest behind four singles wins, three of which came in straight sets. Freshman Bor Artnak, who won the game-clinching match, was the lone three-set battle of the night. The road trip continues on Sunday when the Devils take on University of San Diego at 11 am MST.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
The duo of senior Max McKennon and freshman Artnak extended their undefeated streak in doubles to 6-0 after picking up a 6-1 win in the first position today. Murphy Cassone and Roi Ginat fell 6-1, and the doubles point came down to the matchup on court four. After leading 5-3 on, Jacob Bullard and Constantinos Koshis fell behind 5-6 but battled back 6-6 to the tiebreak, eventually falling 6-7 (4-7). The Devils dropped the doubles point for the first time this season.
Down 0-1 headed into singles, ASU was faced with an early deficit for the first time this season. Koshis fell in straight sets, and the Sun Devils were down 0-2. Roi earned the win at the sixth position via default to make it 1-2 deficit. McKennon defeated his opponent in straight sets to tie the match 2-2. A win at the first position for Cassone put the devils on top 3-2, but Bullard’s loss evened the match, 3-3.
The match came down to Artnak at position two, which was the only matchup of the day to make it to a third set. Artnak won the first set and dropped the second, but eventually pulled away and won 6-2 in the third set to secure the Sun…
