MALIBU– Freshly-ranked No. 18 Arizona State men’s tennis (4-1) is back on the road after earning a spot in the ITA Indoor Championships last weekend, to take on two California teams this weekend, and will face Pepperdine (1-1) on Friday, February 2 at 3:00 p.m. MST and University of San Diego (1-1) on Sunday, February 4 at 11:00 a.m. MST. The Sun Devils cracked into the ITA Top-25 polls on Wednesday, and sit at No. 18– the team’s first time in the top 25 since being ranked No. 20 on May 26, 2021. The 18 is the team’s highest ranking since the team sat at No. 17 on March 24, 2021.

The Sun Devils enter the roadtrip fresh off of a pair of wins against No. 25 Florida State and Virginia Commonwealth in the ITA Kickoff Weekend at the Mississippi State Regional. ASU has not yet lost the doubles point in five matches this season
Doubles duo, senior Max McKennon and freshman Bor Artnak, remain undefeated and have amassed a 5-0 doubles record in five matches this season, including a win over FSU’s No. 52 ranked doubles pair of Loris Pourroy and Youcef Rihane. Senior Jacob Bullard tacked on a pair of singles wins and is tied with junior Murphy Cassone for a team-high three singles wins.
Scouting the opponents:
Pepperdine: Opened their season last weekend and defeated Georgia Tech 4-3 on Sunday before falling 5-2 to No. 21 Michigan State on Monday. The Waves have not yet won the doubles point this season.
San Diego: Sits at 1-1 on the season, and is home to the reigning WCC Singles Player of the Week in #8 Oliver Tarvet. The Toreros opened their season at the ITA Kickoff Weekend, defeating Texas Tech 4-1 in the first round, but falling to No. 7 USC, 4-3, in the Championship match.
