No. 17 Florida State Travels to Columbia for NCAA Tournament

TALLAHASSEE — The No. 17 Florida State men’s tennis team (19-8, 8-4) travels to play No. 44 Baylor (17-15, 2-3) for the second time this spring in the first round of the NCAA Tournament on Friday at 11 a.m. at Carolina Tennis Center.

The Seminoles return to Columbia, South Carolina for the NCAA tournament for the first time since 1994. FSU last saw the Bears in the NCAA Tournament in 2016, falling 4-3 in the first round. The Noles have made 23 appearances in the NCAA Tournament, accumulating 20 wins in program history.

Youcef Rihane, Maks Silagy, Andreja Petrovic, Loris Pourroy, Alex Bulte, and Joshua Dous-Karpenschif return with NCAA championship experience, helping the Noles advance to the second round in 2022 after defeating No.11 Georgia 4-3.

Florida State is led by Antoine Cornut-Chauvinc was named as the No. 7 seed in the NCAA singles Tournament on Tuesday and has a team-high 16 wins in dual matches this spring. Cornut-Chauvinc and Dous-Karpenschif are the No. 2 alternate for the NCAA doubles Tournament.

The Seminoles compiled 10 ranked wins in 2023, with three coming against top-15 opponents.

FSU has made 23 appearances in the NCAA Tournament, accumulating 20 wins in program history.

With a victory, Florida State would face the winner of host No. 9 South Carolina and South Carolina State on Saturday at 2 p.m.

The last three rounds of the NCAA Tournament will be played in Orlando, at the USTA National Campus.
